Job description
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for managing and executing infrastructure and construction projects in various locations across Somalia. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of project planning, design review, site supervision, quality assurance, and contractor coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of works in accordance with local and international standards.
The engineer will work closely with site supervisors, quantity surveyors, logistics personnel, and the client to ensure seamless execution. Projects include buildings, roads, utilities, and temporary facilities for remote camps.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience

Minimum 5 years of proven experience in civil engineering and construction project delivery

Experience working in remote, high-risk, or post-conflict environments is an asset

Demonstrated success in managing subcontractors, labor, and field technicians

Previous experience in preparing site reports, drawings, and project documentation

Familiarity with donor-funded infrastructure projects or mission support operations is preferred
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution

Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and engineering software (e.g., MS Project, Revit)

Knowledge of Somali construction codes and international standards

Fluency in English (Somali language is an advantage)

Strong communication, leadership, and time management skills

Ability to work independently and under pressure in field environments

Valid engineering license or registration preferred

Willingness to travel and be assigned to regional project sites across Somalia
